How to Design an Event Flyer That Fills the Room
The five things every effective event flyer gets right — from the one-second hierarchy test to the print and social sizes you need.
A flyer has about one second to make someone stop scrolling or walking past. These are the things that decide whether they read on.
1. Lead with the one thing that matters
Usually that is the event name or the headline draw — make it the biggest element by far. If everything is big, nothing is.
2. Answer what, when and where fast
People need three facts to act: what it is, when it happens, and where. Put them in an obvious order and do not bury them in decoration.
3. Use one strong image or bold colour block
A single striking visual beats a busy collage. It gives the eye somewhere to land and sets the mood instantly.
4. Add one clear call to action
Get tickets, RSVP, scan to book — one action, made obvious, ideally with a QR code or short link on the printed version.
5. Export the right sizes
You usually need two: a print size (A5 or US half-letter, with bleed) for physical copies, and a social size (1080 × 1350, or a 1080 × 1920 story) to promote it online. Design once, export both.
