Social Media Image Sizes: The 2026 Cheat Sheet
The current dimensions for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest posts, stories and covers — plus why using the right size matters more than you think.
Post at the wrong size and your design gets cropped, blurred, or letterboxed with ugly bars. Here are the sizes that actually work in 2026, platform by platform.
- Feed post (square): 1080 × 1080 px
- Feed post (portrait): 1080 × 1350 px — takes up the most screen space, so it usually performs best
- Story / Reel: 1080 × 1920 px (9:16)
- Feed post: 1080 × 1350 px
- Cover photo: 851 × 315 px
- Story: 1080 × 1920 px
- Feed post: 1200 × 1200 px or 1080 × 1350 px
- Cover / banner: 1584 × 396 px
- Link preview: 1200 × 627 px
- Standard pin: 1000 × 1500 px (2:3) — the ratio Pinterest favours
- Avoid going longer than 2:3, or the pin gets truncated in the feed
Why the right size matters
Platforms compress and crop anything that does not match their expected ratio. A correctly sized image stays sharp, fills the frame, and looks intentional — which is half of looking professional. It also tends to earn more reach, since mis-sized, low-effort posts get pushed less.
The shortcut
Keeping every size straight is tedious, which is why templates come pre-built to the correct dimensions. Our Instagram Story Bundle and Social Media Mega Pack are already sized for every platform above — drop in your content and post.
